Joining the us army soon.

Question

I'm joining as a cavalry scout, is this a good MOS to be? is this job going to make me be in tip top physical shape? any scouts or infantry men answer this please. and i could request Ranger school(rip) right? thank you. my wife is just a lil scared. im 22 by the way.

oh dear. my husband is a 19d. we r both i the army and have not spent more than 7 months together bc of deployments. i will tell u however, u will be in the best shape of ur life! they run about 15 miles a week or more and well, its a tough job, depending on ur unit. but good luck in ft knox!! as for ranger school, u'll have to wait for a bit on that one

My husband is infantry out of the 101st ABN.  He is placed with a Cav unit right now.  How does your wife feel about you deploying and being in the front line while out there.    I will say this being an Army wife.  It doesn't matter what your MOS is the wives always worry.  I am not a selfish person when it comes to my husband being in the military but it is very hard on us. I have a 7 year old and a 7 month old and it is very hard raising our kids by myself.  I don't know how she feels about his but I understand her being scared.  Just know all the facts b4 you join.  The military will tell you anything you want to hear for you to join.

First off your MOS will be 19D Second off, they do not have 19D in Ranger Regiment.  You can opt to get Ranger School when you get to your unit, however, you talk about tip top shape but you need to be in the best physical condition with whatever job you pick.  And as for the difference between scout and infantry men in combat you can receive the CIB or known as combat infantry man badge as a scout you will receive a combat action badge or CAB.  All MOSs in the military other infantry get a CAB.  But I will say this, scouts don't see as much action as infantry men do!  I am speaking only from my experience!
