Joint Asia Continental and World Olympic Qualification Tournament starts Friday – Volleyball news
Following the stupendous success of Women’s World Olympic Qualifiers in Japan, the joint venture of AVC and FIVB Olympic Qualification Tournament is set to start on coming Friday, June 1.
Only two Olympic Tickets will be on stake, while eight teams from China, Iran, Australia, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Serbia and Venezuela will come into stride. The FIVB Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournament will take place from June 1-10. Tokyo Metropolitan
Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan will provide the backdrop for Men’s Olympic Qualifiers.
Each team will appear in a total of seven matches and top two teams of the competition will book their slots at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Host Japan is very optimistic to clinch the Olympic berth. The hosts will be equipped with certain advantages in
the competition. They will have the emotional support of local fans and competitive edge of playing at the familiar venue. Hence, the Japanese have high hopes to grab success. Nonetheless, it will not come as easy as we speak but any aspiring team will be
required to showcase a flawless performance, in order to stand out.
The Olympic Qualification process started out in 2011 with the advent of Men’s FIVB World Cup, which was also hosted by Japan. Russia, Poland, and Brazil finished as the top three teams of the competition and reserved the Olympic slots. In the next run,
the Continental phase took over and Tunisia secured a trip to London by taking first position at the 2012 African Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Later on, North American Olympic Qualification Tournament took place at Long Beach California in United States. The hosts of the tournament American team totally profited from the familiar conditions and claimed the Olympic ticket. Italy staged an up to
the mark performance at the European Qualifiers that took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. With an outstanding performance, Italy settled for the top position and advanced to the Olympics. Likewise, Argentina seized Olympic spot via South American Qualification Tournament.
In addition to the hosts of 2012 London Olympic Games (Great Britain) a total of seven teams have earned Olympic spots so far. Two tickets will be gone at the end 2012 FIVB World Olympic Qualification Tournament. Afterwards, Germany and Bulgaria will play
host to the last two flights of the Olympic Qualifiers in the month of June, 2012. Finally, the grid of 12 teams will be finalised for the Summer Olympics.
Great Britain men’s volleyball team is already qualified for the competition for being the host of the event.
Men’s Olympic Volleyball Tournament will start off on July 27 and it will complete its length on August 12. The Earls Court will host the activity.
