Question:

Joint degree & teaching?

Is it possible to teach secondary school with a joint degree, or does it have to be one subject only? I'm sure I want to be a teacher, but I'm torn between English or History. If I did a joint degree in those two, would it be possible to teach either?

  1. sure, just check against your states website - often there is a minimum number of credits you need ( a major equivelent) to be considered HQ under NCLB.

  2. I don't see why not! Of course you may only teach one of them, depending on what is available at the school you get hired. But it's always better to be versatile, able to move where-ever the administration needs you. So sure double major! =)
