The former Ajax boss was all praise for his troops’ display on the pitch on Monday, while insisting that the former Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 should have hit the back of the net.
Fulham head coach, Martin Jol, was extremely pleased with his side’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Monday, December 10.
The former Ajax boss was all praise for his troops’ solid performance on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes, and admitted that netting the opening gaol was extremely delightful, as his side has struggled to open the scoring in their recent games.
“I was so happy we could score the first goal - that was our problem the last couple of weeks”, Jol said while talking to journalists in the post-match press conference.
In spite of heading into the game on the back of a seven-game winless streak, the Cottagers commenced proceedings brightly, and managed to grab the lead within the opening 19 minutes of the game through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Sidwell-c34181.
The home side had a golden opportunity to extend its lead further near the half-hour mark, but Dimitar Berbatov failed to hit the back of the net after going one-on-one against the Magpies goalkeeper, Tim Krul.
Newcastle resumed action better in the second-half, and managed to restore parity in the 54th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Rodallega-c16414.
The visiting side pressed hard in search of an equaliser, while the hosts consistently pushed to net another, but both sides failed to add any more goals in the remaining action of the match.
Although Jol was pleased with the overall performance put in by his troops, he insisted that the former Manchester United striker should have put the match to bed earlier, as he missed a couple of decent goalscoring opportunities.
“After the first goal we should have scored at least two or three. I think Berbatov should have scored. He was outstanding as a player but he should have scored and he didn't, we didn't - and I thought maybe it's one of these nights again that we drop points”,
Jol concluded.
Fulham will take on Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 at Loftus Road Stadium in their next Premier League encounter on December 15.
