The Fulham coach insisted that he was fond of the American’s attacking prowess and reiterated his desire to see him at Craven Cottage next season.
Ever since taking over the helm, Martin Jol has revived the sagging fortunes of the London side, who were still suffering from the departure of their visionary manager Roy Hodgson.
The tactician guided them to the highest highs in the UEFA Europa League and was famed for his attack minded philosophy that often got the better of teams like Manchester United.
However with him gone, the Cottagers were stuttering in the League and even Mark Hughes couldn’t resurrect them from the dead. But Jol with all his experience was able to the impossible and finished last campaign on 9th position.
The highlight of the season was undoubtedly Clint Dempsey, who scored the majority of the goals and made a name for himself in the star studded line-ups of the English capital.
With his performances, the American International has been strongly linked with a switch to Liverpool, where the Reds are eager to make him the star of the show.
Fulham are reluctant to let their prized asset leave, but also realize that Dempsey will not able to turn down the opportunity to play in Europe for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Nonetheless, the current coach has spoken of his admiration for the 29-year-old and claimed that he is trying his best to keep him at the club for the time being.
"I don't want to talk about that (speculation). I love Clint, he scored a lot of goals and I want to keep him,” the 56-year-old was quoted as saying.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s new boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to add the midfield c*m front-man to his starting line-up, which has been riddled with shoddy acquisitions and below-par performers since last summer.
The Reds have the financial power to lure Dempsey to Merseyside and prepared to break the bank in order to land his services, however as of yet nothing official has been revealed from either side and the speculation will continue to mount until the transfer
window closes or the player finally agrees to make the move.
