Jon Fitch to face Johny Hendricks at UFC 141 – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will hold UFC 141 on December 30, 2011 in Las Vegas. According to reports, the UFC has officially announced the bout between Jon Fitch and Johny Hendricks. Both fighters had verbally agreed to their fight in September
2011 which was later confirmed by the UFC.
Fitch, the American mixed martial art (MMA) fighter was looking to face Nick Diaz or Jay Dee "B.J." Penn, but he was unable to secure a fight with either one of them. It was the in September this year that Fitch was able to get a bout against Hendricks.
Their bout would be for the welterweight division when the two fighters would collide inside the UFC octagon ring. Fitch would be entering the UFC ring after his last bout against B.J Penn was drawn in February 2011. Fitch had an amazing run of winning sixteen
straight fights from July 2003 to March 2008.
This was the era when Fitch proved himself to be a great contender in the welterweight division. For Hendricks, he would be entering the UFC 141 event with two successive wins under his belt. He defeated T.J Waldburger at UFC Fight Night event in March 2011
followed by his win against Mike Pierce at UFC 133 in August 2011.
Once the UFC announced the bout for the UFC 141 event, UFC fans are eager to witness the welterweight bout. It would be a one filled with aggression from both players. As the UFC 141 draws closer, both fighters would be thinking
for their strategy to use in the bout.Fitch’s last bout at UFC 127 against B.J Penn ended in a draw. This is not what the two fighter or the UFC fans would want to see at UFC 141. They would be looking forward for a decisive bout with a winner and lots of
aggressive strikes and a possible knockout.
Fitch, who stands at the number two spot in the welterweight division, has been a strong contender for the UFC welterweight title. He did faced Georges St-Pierre at UFC 87 in August 2009 for the UFC Welterweight Championship, but he was unable to win the bout.
He has been undefeated since then. If he wins his bout at UFC 141, then he might get another chance at the UFC Welterweight Championship.
