The Australian cricket team coach, Mickey Arthur said that the injured spinner will be assessed by the medical staff on Friday morning before making a final decision on his availability. He further added that though Doherty’s injury is not serious, they
wanted to make sure they are best prepared for the worst.
"While Xavier Doherty's injury is not deemed as being serious it is important we have capable cover in Sydney for tomorrow's match,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 speaking to media reporters on Thursday evening.
The South African praised Holland for his stupendous performances for Victoria in the ongoing domestic season and hoped that the off-spinner “will perform with distinction”, if called up tomorrow.
“Jon has been bowling well for Victoria across all formats in recent weeks and we feel should he be required he will perform with distinction," hoped Mickey Arthur ahead of the match.

Jon Holland, the 24-year-old left arm spinner from Victoria, will join the Australian squad in Sydney on Friday morning. The young uncapped Victorian has so far played 23 First class, 21 List A and 12 Twenty20 matches and has proven himself. In the longest
format of the game he averages 40.83 with 61 scalps to his name. In List A cricket he has claimed 18 wickets while in the shortest format of the game, Jon has taken only seven wickets so far.
