Jon Jones: I am the nicest person ever to everyone who has ever met me – UFC News
Light heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Jon Jones believes he is the nicest person to be around. In an interview with MMA Weekly, the American mixed martial artist asserted that he has never embraced hate, even though a lot of people
criticise him every now and then.
“I am the nicest person ever to everyone who has ever met me,” said Jones who was the centre of attention during the controversial annulment of UFC 151.
Jones is currently scheduled to face Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. It is a super-fight between a fighter of a previous generation and a fighter of today. Belfort believes he is the old-lion who has enough experience in the ring to beat Jones. On the other hand,
Jones believes he has more tactics than any other fighter.
“I'm the nicest person to people. Every day I walk into Jackson's gym and I hand out boxes of equipment. I order stuff all the time for my teammates and just give it out. I just give it to people. I am like the nicest person ever,” added Jones.
Jones was highly criticised recently for not taking up a fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 151. However, Jones defended his decision saying he did what every fighter would have done.
Jones was originally scheduled to fight Dan Henderson but due to an injury sustained by the latter, Henderson backed off. President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White had no other option but to call in Chael Sonnen to replace Henderson. White
got lucky when Sonnen approved of the idea. However, Jones refused, saying he would not change his opponent just eight days before the show.
As of now, Jones believes he has always tried his best to be nice to the ones around him. He shrugged down the idea of being the villain recently, as he believes he only did what was good for him.
“I am not going to say I embraced the role of being a villain because I am not. I am not a villain; I am not a bad person. I pride myself off of inspiring others.”
