UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones believes he has grown from whatever he has faced in his career and in his personal life. Jones, who has been the centre of attention for his DUI case and the recently cancelled UFC 151, believes all of it has made
him mature.
“I believe I've grown from all of it and I appreciate all the curveballs life has thrown me,” said Jones in his recent interview.
“Right now, I'm on top of a lot of things. I'm doing a great job as a parent, a great job in my business and I'm doing really well with my performances, training really smart and everything.”
Jones was scheduled to fight Dan Henderson at UFC 151 but due to an injury sustained by the latter, the fight fell off. To save the day, President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White pitched in and asked Chael Sonnen to fight Jones. While Sonnen
approved of the show, Jones declined saying he will not change his opponent just eight days prior to the show.
“I'm hoping that at the end of the day, the fans start to open up their minds about the situation and realize that I'm not a UFC executive,” said Jones.
“At the end of the day, being a world champion, I've dedicated my whole life to this.”
For now, Jones is hopeful that his relationship with Dana White will get back to normal. Amidst the entire controversy of UFC 151, Jones has maintained that he did what was best for him and his career. Moreover, he has even asserted time and again that Chael
Sonnen did not deserve the title shot.
According to Jones, he is not the only one to be blamed for the entire UFC 151 fallout. He believes that the main person responsible is Dan Henderson, who did not reveal about his injury until the last minute.
Jones is now scheduled to face Vitor Belfort at UFC 152 to defend his title. The light heavyweight champion is confident that he will once again be the one walking out with victory.
