Jon Jones asserts he will be ready for Anderson Silva – UFC News
UFC light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones has asserted that he will be ready for middleweight champion Anderson Silva, wherever and whenever the fight happens. According to Jones, super-fights are important for fighters to cement their legacies and they are
equally important for the business and sport. However, Jones does not want to pressurise anyone for a fight against Silva.
“I think superfights are important for the sport. They're important for legacies. A desire to compete in one, I really don't have this big desire to compete against anyone in particular,” said Jones via MMA Fighting.
“Everything is a possibility. I really can't count too much out. I do believe that we're put on this earth to think big and dream big, and not limit ourselves. And fighting Anderson would be a definite testament of my faith and my warrior experience, and
things like that. So who knows what will happen in the future. Sounds like we're breaking, huh? Me and Anderson, sounds like the story is twisting? I'm up for whatever, man,” he added.
Jones is considered among the best mixed martial artists in the world today and so is Silva. President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has already indicated the possibility of putting both the fighters together in the cage. Unfortunately,
none of them has shown any interest in the fight.
White has promised fans that 2013 will be a year of super-fights in the UFC, probably starting with a fight between welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva. While the Spider is ready to take on GSP, he has not indicated any such plans against
Jones.
In his recent interview, Silva asserted that he does not want to move up to the light heavyweight division to face Jones. Similarly, even Jones does not want to shed pounds to face Silva at middleweight. In other words, there is no possibility for the fight
happening at catchweight, as none of them are interested to do so.
Probably, Silva knows that Jones is the only fighter who can break his unbeaten streak, and that is something no fighter would want just when they are thinking about retirement.
