Jon Jones beats Rashad Evans to end it once and for all – UFC News
All the trash-talking of Rashad Evans came to an end on Saturday night at UFC 145 when UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones defeated him via unanimous decision. Final scores of the fight were 49-46, 49-46, 50-45.
The event that took place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta had Evans giving Jones the worst beating of his life, however the champion managed to grab the victory. The first round was dominated by Jones, when he kept Evans close. Using his mighty elbows and
legs, Jones was able to give Evans a thorough beating throughout the first round. However, the round ended with Evan’s head kick to Jones. This was Evans’ return to the show, which continued throughout the second round as well. Evans delivered some hardcore
body shots while Jones countered with his ferocious elbow blows. The second round was even with both the men trying to hit as hard as possible but none succeeded.
Jones played smart while Evans gave all he could and failed. Jones countered Evans overhand rig which irked the challenger. The fourth round saw Evans trying to blow off Jones. By this time, Evans was all aggressive while Jones still played cool and smart.
What Evans failed to realise was the fact that Jones was saving all his energy for the right time, and that right time was the last ten-minute session of the fight. Jones unleashed his fury on Evans and gave him the beating of his life via knee shots and low
kicks to the face. This was where Evans lost it all. All he could do was to defend himself. In the last minute Evans tried to reach out to Jones but Jones countered.
The match put an end to Evans’ trash-talk towards Jones. Evans, who called Jones a mentally ill person, had to lose to him. However, Evans did put up a good fight and Jones, who is known for knocking out his opponents, had to win via unanimous decision.
Evans stuck to his words and did not shake hands with Jones, as he said prior to the fight in his interview.
