Jon Jones being sponsored by the Ultimate Fighting Championship – UFC News
In his recent interview, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones revealed that he would be sponsored by UFC itself for his bout against Rashad Evans. The youngest UFC title holder unveiled the fact that he and his management received a letter from UFC stating
that the organization wishes to sponsor him for the grand fight.
Jones said, “We came up with a strategy to keep it clean and be sponsored by the UFC itself. I’m glad the UFC wanted to work with me ... I think I’m a good company guy. The UFC asks me to do anything and I always do it and I never tell them 'no' for anything.”
It should be noted here that Jones is currently considered the best draw for UFC sponsors, including its corporate sponsors. Keeping this fact in mind, it is quite evident as to why the organisation wants to sponsor him. He has become the face of UFC and
is among the stars who have taken the sport to the heights it is enjoying right now. While being sponsored by the UFC itself is a moment of joy for Jones, it certainly would be a devastating revelation for Rashad Evans, Jones opponent.
If Jones is being sponsored by UFC then who will sponsor Evans? Evans is already in a contract with the UFC, which means he is already working for the organisation. Keeping this in mind, it is tough to realise the fact that UFC would not be offering Evans
the chance to wear their logos when he will be in the ring. If Jones’ revelation is anything but the truth, then it is quite an obnoxious step by the UFC that can enrage other fighters. This is the first time UFC will be officially sponsoring a fighter who
is already working with them. Even though it sounds out of question, it is actually happening.
Rashad Evans, who has repeatedly tried to bring down Jones emotionally, will now need to be a bit more careful in the ring against the champion, since now he is UFC’s officially sponsored pawn which means the company entrusts him more than any other man.
