Jon Jones fined and banned from driving for six months – UFC News
UFC light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones has been sentenced to a six-month ban from driving in New York along with a fine of $1,000. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones pleaded guilty in the court, without making any excuses for his illegal act.
Jones was present at the Binghamton City Hall, where he spoke to reporters regarding the entire scenario.
“I’m definitely prepared to do whatever I can to make it right and to do things better in the future,” Jones told reporters before the hearing. “I’m excited to make you guys proud again and continue my winning ways on the positive, right foot,” he added.
According to the verdict, Jones is also liable to complete a victim impact panel within 90 days. In addition, he needs to install ignition interlocks on every vehicle he owns. Luckily, Jones was granted a one-year discharge on the DWI charge, but it was
made conditional.
Jones had entered a guilty plea agreement May 29 at the Broome County District Attorney’s Office.
“Blessed to still have the full support of (Broome) County/ all my fans and my DWI case officially behind me,” Jones added.
On the other hand, Seiden had a few words for Jones too, “I hope that ... you’ll get past this episode and move on to even better things. I also hope that you will use this experience as a learning opportunity, and as a vivid reminder that all of us become
vulnerable when we use bad judgment — even you.”
Jon Jones is currently being scheduled for UFC 152. The light heavyweight champion will defend his title against an opponent still to be decided. President of UFC Dana White has already expressed his disappointment over Jon Jones, who is supposedly UFC’s
best ever fighter to date.
As of now, White is looking forward to put a fighter who is an equal to Jones in the cage, as Jones’ recent opponents have led the organisation down. White believes the division is getting more and more competitive and it is about time for Jones to face
fighters that can give him a tough time in the cage.
