Jon Jones hits back at Chael Sonnen for calling him a ‘punk’ – UFC News
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones replied to Chael ‘The American Gangster’ Sonnen’s comments. According to Jones, Sonnen is not worth it and that he is not falling for the trap Sonnen is setting up for him.
“The things you say about me hold absolutely no weight. You disrespected Anderson (Silva) and his country but fought like a child,” said Jones on Twitter.
Jones is well aware of Sonnen’s dirty games. The American Gangster knows well how to get the attention of a fighter he wants to lock horns with. Sonnen has done it previously with Anderson Silva and now he wants to do the same with Jones.
Sonnen revealed earlier this week that he would move up in weight to 205 lbs to fight Forrest Griffin. Sonnen lost twice to Anderson Silva, UFC middleweight champion, and now believes he is done at the middleweight division. Therefore, he wants to move up
and challenge Jon Jones for a title defence fight.
Jones know what Sonnen is trying to do and so he has already declined the notion of a fight through verbal attacks.
“Dude, you're not worth my time. Earn a title shot instead of trying to talk your way into one, and I'll be glad to hurt you."
“Chael might want to stick to his desk job. He seems to be better with his mouth than he is with his fists.”
Seems like Jones is quite furious over Sonnen, yet he has not lost control yet. Jones knows most fans are wondering if he will fight Sonnen.
“For everyone who thinks I'm 'falling into Chael's game,' I know exactly what I'm doing. Are you not entertained?” said Jones.
As of now, Chael Sonnen is looking forward to counter Forrest Griffin at the 205 lbs. However, he believes he is good enough to take a shot at Jones for the title. According to Sonnen, once he is done with Griffin, he will try and get a shot at Jones.
“ Jon will fight anyone the UFC puts in front of him, but Chael needs to focus on winning a few fights at 205 pounds before he starts calling out the champ,” Sonnen believes.
