Jon Jones is excited to watch Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre – UFC News
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is excited about the idea of watching middleweight champion Anderson Silva defend his title against welterweight super-fighter Georges St-Pierre. The super fight is yet not decided but President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White is hopeful that it will soon be on the cards.
“I'm really excited for Anderson Silva versus 'GSP,’ said Jones in an interview with AXS TV's "Inside MMA”. “I think 'GSP' has a tall order in front of him with Silva and Carlos Condit. Anderson Silva's also facing Stephan Bonnar, right now. In this crazy sport of MMA, anything's possible. It's kinda hard to predict the future and see everything going perfectly for both of these fighters. But, as far as entertaining a fight with Anderson Silva, I have a hard time looking past Vitor Belfort. He's a great legend and a great fighter. I would never want to look past him into my future like that.”
Georges St-Pierre is making his comeback after almost eighteen months. The welterweight has been out of the show due to recurring injuries but now he plans on getting back to his game. According to GSP, it is time for him to fix his recurring injuries and to get back to his winning streak.
On the other hand, middleweight champion Anderson Silva is eyeing a win when GSP takes on Carlos Condit this season. Although Silva is not bothered with GSP’s win, it is President of UFC Dana White who claims GSP will only get a match against Silva if he defeats Condit.
For now, Jones and other fighters are excited about the introduction of super-fights in UFC. If a fight between Silva and GSP happens, it will be the first ever super-fight in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Dana White is hopeful that GSP will defeat Condit to claim a shot at Silva. If not, then White has a backup plan which is to put light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in the cage against middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Since both the fighters are currently UFC’s best, White believes it will be excited to watch them fight each other.
