Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans finalised for Atlanta – UFC news
Finally, Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans gets its date. The bout between the two highly popular fighters is as the main event for UFC 145 on April 21 in Atlanta.
Tickets for the event will start selling from next week.
Rashad Evans, who has 17 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie in MMA and 12 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie in UFC, will face Jon Jones for the heavyweight title. Evans defeated Phil Davis in UFC on Fox 2 in January to get this title shot.
On the other hand, Jon Jones with 15 wins and 1 loss in MMA and 9 wins and 1 loss in UFC has been giving out statements which showed how eager he has been all this time to face Evans.
Both the fighters have had their share of words and now it is finally time to see who the better fighter is. The event ‘UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans’ will take place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta. It is a huge arena with more than 19,000 seats to facilitate
viewers. This same arena hosted the UFC 88 in 2008.
Since March 2011, both the fighters have heavily criticised each other. The most recent updates in the war of words of these two men came from Jones when he marked Evans as a man who has lost his edge at fighting. Jones made these comments after watching
Evans vs. Davis and said that he does not see a chance for Evans winning.
Evans retaliated saying that Jones should run away from the match like he has done in the past and should face him (Evans) once and for all. It should be noted here that dates of a possible bout between both of these fighters have been coming in since 2011.
Thrice the dates were changed due to injury issues with either of the fighter.
Right now, April 21 seems to be the final date. However, if anything happens to Jones or Evans, the date will be changed. Evans is already irked over date changes and thinks that it is high time to get what belongs to him and that is the heavyweight championship.
