Jon Jones wants to break Ortiz’s records – UFC News
Jon Jones, light heavyweight of UFC, is among the best mixed martial artists ever seen. He is already being dubbed as the king of UFC, but he is not satisfied with his current accomplishments. Jones wants to go ahead and break Tito Ortiz’s record of highest
consecutive title defence fights in the division.
“One of my primary goals right now is to top Tito's record, so that pushes me,” said Jones in a recent interview with MMA Junkie.
He added, “I think [I'm most concerned] with his striking, that H-bomb. He's a very talented fighter. His hands are heat-seeking missiles. He can do some things from all different angles with that right hand.”
Tito Ortiz retired and joined the UFC Hall of Fame at UFC 148. He holds the record of making the most title defence wins between 2000 and 2002. Jones is now looking forward to beat Ortiz’s record to become the number one MMA fighter in history.
“I'm big on setting goals, and that's one of my goals,” said Jones who is scheduled to fight Dan Henderson at UFC 151 in September.
“DVR also pushes me, too. You get knocked out, that's on TV forever. I know that I have to be at my best,” added Jones.
As of now, Jones’ accomplishments have made him the only fighter who is sponsored by the UFC for his fights. On the other hand, there is Anderson Silva, UFC middleweight champion, who is also considered among the best UFC fighters of all time.
Rumours of a possible bout between Anderson Silva and Jon Jones are already on the rise. Fans want to see both the top-notch fighters of the organization colliding. However, no confirmation of any such notion has been made by any UFC official, especially
President Dana White .
Jones is now heading towards one of the most enthralling bouts of his career. Dan Henderson is not an easy foe to overpower and Jones knows it well. Therefore, the light heavyweight wants to make sure he is ready for the showdown. If Jones loses, his dream
of beating Ortiz will fade away forever.
