Jon Lester garnering interest from many leading teams – MLB Update
Starting pitcher Jon Lester currently as free agent is garnering interest from many leading Major League Baseball teams including Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.
"Our rotation is going to better, but we're still looking for the opportunity to improve on what we've done,'' Royals' GM Dayton Moore said by phone as he explained about his team’s requirements.
Lester last played for the Red Sox but now as a free agent he is seeking a new potential lengthy hefty contract.
Recently news is coming in the different local media that Kansas City Royals want an experienced pitcher for rebuilding their starting rotation.
Royals played quite nicely in the last Major League Baseball season but with a poor pitching offence, they lost too many games and failed to impress with their overall offensive prowess.
Now with a decent outlook of free agents in the market, they are taking their chances and preparing hard to include a potential hard-working starter for the next Major League competitions.
Earlier there was also a rumour spread in the media that Boston Red Sox might sign him again but it turned out to be speculation.
Lester said, "I just want to be a baseball player, I was beaten down all that first winter just dealing with cancer, The last thing I wanted to do was come to Spring Training and be asked about it.”
He added, “Being immature at the time and not understanding how people viewed me, it took me a few years of settling down, getting married and hearing stories from people, You know, when people have been through the same thing you've been through, you really don't have to say much.”
Jon Lester, with an upright past experience of six years in the biggest baseball league in the world, will be a great choice for the Royals.
Lester, playing the last season for the Boston Red Sox, showed an enormous amount of improvement. He finished with 4.82 ERA along with 9-14 win-loss, 166 strike-outs and 1.38 WHIP.
Overall he also possesses a well balanced career 3.76 ERA along with 85-48, 1060 strike-outs and 1.31 WHIP.
