Jon Lewis Dickinson ready to take on David Dolan for Commonwealth Cruiserweight championship bout
British professional boxer Jon Lewis Dickinson has earned his chance to qualify for a possible title fight after winning his last bout against the 31-year-old experienced, David Dolan of United Kingdom.
The Cruiserweight contender, Dickinson will be fighting Rob Norton next in their 12-round bout for Commonwealth Cruiserweight title before the end of 2011.
In his last fight, the 25-year-old young boxing prospect Dickinson won a ten-round points decision against Dolan on July 3, 2011 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, United Kingdom.
Talking about his next opponent Dickinson said, “Rob Norton- I’m for you now. That was the first step, but the next is to fight for the British title.”
Adding to this Dickinson said, “I always said I had to get rid of David first, and I’ve done that now. I’ve come back from two defeats and a broken jaw, and I’ve proved what I am about. I want to go on from here and, if I’m honest, I don’t think Rob Norton
will cause me any problems. Ten minutes or so before the fight, Frank (Warren) said to me, win this, and I’ll be straight on the phone to make the Norton fight. I can’t wait.”
The Orthodox stance, Dickinson fought 11 of his total fights of which he won 9 competitive bouts including 2 knockout victories with 2 losses and no draws in his professional boxing career. Dickinson turned professional winning a four-round points decision
against the British Paul Bonson at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, Lancashire in 2008.
Dickinson lost two out of his last three fights. He faced the first ever loss of his career against Tyrone Wright. The two fighters came close in their three-round bout in July 2010 at the Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear.
Norton is returning to the ring after facing the second ever 12-round points draw in his career. Hopefully the fight will be interesting and fascinating to watch between both pugilists.
