Jon Wilkin believes that he is at the top of his game - Rugby League
While talking to reporters on Thursday, October 20, Jon Wilkin of England said that he is at the top of his game. The player is part of an English side that is looking forward to give tough competition to the other three countries in contention for the National
Rugby League’s (NRL) Gillette Four Nations title.
The competition will kick off from October 28 and will wrap up by November 19. After Super League, Four Nations is the next big competition to lure everybody’s attention.
Wilkin has lost five successive Super League Grand Finals and is hoping to put an end to the string of failures by associating himself with the English side.
While talking about his side’s on-field brilliance, the second-rower said, "This is the best-prepared side we've had. The coach [Steve McNamara] has left no stone unturned. There is not a lot more that could have been done and it feels like I'm at the top
of my game."
It was further stressed upon by the prop that his side has more potential than any other team, which meant that his side is the strongest in his personal opinion. England will be seen combating against Wales at Leigh on October 29, after that they take on
Australia and New Zealand.
Wilkin is all focussed on representing his country well in the Four Nations, for which he is even willing to put aside his club priorities for a while. He also acknowledged that he is very happy with his inclusion in the English side while branding every
opportunity of this sort as completely “precious”.
He went on and said, "In my time as an international player, this is the most contact I've had with a squad. We have had two or three training camps, we've met up through the year and come together feeling comfortable and familiar. Even though we have a
couple of lads coming in from outside the ETS (Elite Training Squad), the training side of things has been really positive."
Wilkin was also appreciative of the training camps ahead of the Gillette Series in the later part of the month.
