Jonas Brodin and Oscar Klefbom, both Swedish teammates headed to 2011 NHL Entry Draft
Jonas Brodin and Oscar Klefbom are usually regarded as being brothers rather than just teammates because of how much they have in common. It is certainly not surprising to hear that both are headed to the National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft 2011 to
play in the major league.
Both Swedish players were born in Karlstad, Sweden, and play a defensive position for the Farjestad franchise in the Sweden league.
The only thing that really separates them is their mid-term ranking on the scouting list. Brodin was ranked fourth overall, while Klefbom eighth, but they still are in the top spots as they rank third and sixth in the final ranking, respectively.
Brodin has a skinny frame and is a cool player who thinks before he takes action which is great in one-on-one situations with other players.
Klefbom, on the other hand, is better known for his risky manoeuvres which can sometime backfire, otherwise they work miracles for him.
"I think I'm a two-way defender", Klefbom told NHL.com. "I'm good in the D-zone and good in the offensive zone. I can fill it up and help the forwards get the puck into the net. You always can improve your shot and be better, but I think I have good opportunities
to get good in both zones".
Klefbom and Brodin are both big fans of Detroit Red Wings, since every Swedish player’s idol is on that team, Nicklas Lidstrom.
It is very rare that they will be selected for the same team, let alone for Red Wings but there is always a possibility, still it is practically impossible.
"I've played with Jonas for four years and he's a very good guy outside the rink as well, but on the ice he's a good skater, good hockey sense, and can handle the puck well … he's an all-round defender", Klefbom said. "Maybe he could be bigger, but I think
he wouldn't lose speed or power".
The 2011 NHL Entry Draft is right around the corner and it is only a matter of time when the final decisions regarding these players will be made.
