Jonas Brothers and their purity rings...?

Here's my take on it...

Jesus didn't have a purity ring. What does a piece of metal symbolize?? It's their decision whether to be part of that religion or not. Why do people need rings to make themselves seem holy? I'm a true Christian...and I don't wear one. Material possessions do not prove anything.

I think they just want the world to see them as "pure." Even though everyone in the world is anything BUT pure.

And girls freak out, because this means they're virgins! Hooray for the fan girls! I honestly think a ring doesn't symbolize anything.

Just my opinion.

Does anyone else agree with me??? What's your input on this?

P.S. I'm not "hating" on the Jonas Brothers, as most people would think. Hate is ugly, but I don't like their music at ALL!

It's just a reminder, get over it.

It's their decision if they want to wear one or not. It's not completely about their christianity, it's just their personal belief.

Many people wear purity rings, even before the Jonas Brothers, so why are you just ragging on them about it?

Also, to the first answer, I think, they don't bbrag about their purity rings. They don't even like to talk about their rings, but so many reporters and interviewers bug them about it, that's why you hear so much about them. Lately, though, they've been refusing to talk about it.

they are not bragging on their religion.its just that they have respect for their bodies and want to save themselves for someone that they truly love. and to parents it shows how mature you are and its makes a person feel better knowing that they won't disrespect by just throwing away their virginity.i personly have one but just like demi lovato i wear mines as a necklace.because my parents thought me better than to just give it up to the first guy that says he loves me.because if someone really loves you they would want to wait for you

i agree. if that's what you truly believe in, a ring shouldnt remind you to remain pure. being pure should always stay in your mind, not just whenever you look at the ring. im not saying it's wrong to wear it. i think it's wrong if they say the ring is to remind them to not have s*x.

i completely agree.  i'm staying pure till marriage but i don't have a ring.  when ur faced with a decision the ring isn't going to stop u. there is really no point except that it makes them look all innocent.

ok, well i think the jonas brothers way there to show people, themselves and god that there saving themselves, u can make the promise to god and still not have a ring but the ring is a symbol- kinda of like a marriage ring.. its a symbol to god that ur saving urself

I think purity rings are just ways of bragging how religious you are.

It's like boasting to everyone that you believe in god. I think that it should be their business only and they shouldn't show everyone what their beliefs are. Just be humble Christan's.

And I think the fact of being a virgin is a symbol enough, you don't need a ring. The ring will not physically stop you from having s*x, will-power will.

I know what you mean. To me, it's a publicity stunt so they could sell more records to fans of soccer moms. Also they're turning purity rings to a useless fad, where anyone can wear one. Anyway in two years they're be irrevenlet as yeasterday's lunch.
