Jonas Hiller immensely valuable for Anaheim Ducks in upcoming regular season -NHL Update
The Anaheim Ducks might not have any Tim Thomas’, Roberto Luongo’s or Jonathan Quick’s, but they definitely do have Jonas Hiller, in whom they have vested a lot of their hopes and dreams, especially for the upcoming 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL)
regular season.
Last season was definitely one which neither Anaheim Ducks nor Jonas Hiller want to revisit as the former was locked out of the postseason while the latter faced an even tougher time with various injuries to face.
"With whatever I went through at the end of last year, I'm definitely happy how it went this year for me personally," Hiller said in an interview with the team website last month. "I showed that I am able to play at the highest level in this League and I
think I can play better. I'm already excited for next year."
The offseason has been better for the young goalie as he has been focusing on the conditioning, strength training along with realising that he has to be better for the upcoming regular season.
"I definitely have a little better understanding of my body and how to take care of it, to listen to my body and not just try to work through it when something is aching," Hiller told Adam Brady of the Ducks Blog. "With massage or treatment, you can get
rid of stuff before it really gets serious.”
The 30-year-old native of Felben Wllhausen, Switzerland, has been fighting to become well known the club for the past five straight years. Next season will be his biggest ever as the goalie is determined to prove himself as a leader once and for all, or
else the club will have to begin finding some alternative depth in the net.
In a total of 250 games played throughout his career in the major league, Hiller has 118 wins and 91 losses. He has a .918 save percentage and 2.53 goals against average.
Next year will definitely be exciting as Anaheim Ducks go in refreshed with more than enough time off along with having Teemu Selanne still on the club and Jonas Hiller ready for some action.
