Jonas Hogh-Christensen hoping for a positive run in 2012 London Olympic Games – Sailing News
Denmark’s Jonas Hogh-Christensen displayed some outstanding sailing skills on the London waters during his campaign of Finn class and was able to claim the leading podium place of the class with seven points. So far, the Finn fleet has sailed in six races
at the end of third day and one race was discarded from the overall score.
Jonas Hogh-Christensen started his regatta campaign with a tremendous bullet finish in the first race of the day. The Danish sailor repeated his performance in the second race and hit another bullet to place himself on top of the fleet standings at the end
of the first day proceedings.
The second day began with a second finish for him in the opening race of the day’s proceedings. Third race was disappointing for him because he was unable to claim any higher finish and crossed the line on seventh position.
However, the third day of the event brought him back into the game as he finished first in the fifth race overall followed by a second spot which was enough for him to stay on top. The fleet leader is hoping for a superb run ahead and believes he can make
it to the gold medal position.
Speaking to the local media, Jonas Hogh-Christensen said, “In both races I wanted to go left. So starting close to the pin was the plan but with a bit less risk. Both starts were good, but I thought I was over in the second race and went back. Then I gained
a couple more and I am super content with that. Another good day.”
Overall standings of Finn class so far:
