Jonas Jerebko scores 22 as Detroit Pistons crush Charlotte Bobcats 98-81 - NBA Recap
Detroit Pistons successfully ended their six games losing streak with a convincing 98-81 win over the Charlotte Bobcats in their 12th outing of the season to improve their record to 3-9.
Forward Jonas Jerebko, who had a quiet NBA season so far, was superb tonight and matched his career high 22 points on 9 for 12 from the floor and 9 rebounds.
"I was trying to take it to the basket and get a couple of easy ones that way instead of just shooting jump shots," said Jerebko” We had some glimpses against Milwaukee and tonight I think we had a complete game instead of just half a game and I think it
showed on the court."
Greg Monroe too was outstanding and pounded 19 points and 9 boards while Ben Gordon registered 14 points. Brandon Knight had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards whereas Tayshaun Prince chipped in with 10 points.
Piston shot 40-82 from the floor including 7-for-14 from the long range and outrebounded the Bobcats 46-34.
It was thoroughly a professional performance from the Pistons and the only time they trailed in the game was during the first minute. After that, they just kept attacking and never looked back.
Pistons Coach Lawrence Frank was satisfied with his team’s performance. Expressing his delight, he exclaimed
"You lose, and you play the right way. You win and play the right way. You lose and don't play the right way, and you win and don't play the right way. I thought we won and we played the right way, with purpose."
Byron Mullens paced the Bobcats with 18 points and 7 rebounds while the rookie Kemba Walker bundled 16 on 6 for 8 from the floor. Tyrus Thomas and the reserve DJ White sealed 10 points apiece.
After finishing the first half with a 12 point lead 39-51, Pistons pushed the momentum into the third frame and maintained the lead throughout. With two minutes remaining in the quarter, they were ahead by 14 points 69-55 and then they finished the frame
with a 9-4 run to get complete control of the game, ahead by 19 points 78-59.
Bobcats succumbed to the pressure of the massive deficit and failed to make any inroads in the deciding frame to complete a disappointing loss in the end.
