Jonas Valanciunas signs his rookie contract with Toronto Raptors

Jonas Valanciunas was selected fifth overall by the Toronto Raptors last season but was unable to come play in the NBA because of a complex buyout clause on his contract which led him to stay in Europe. However the Raptors have
agreed to pay $550,000 of the total $2.4 million buyout this season thus making a move possible from Lietuvos Rytas to Toronto on a rookie contract.
By adding the young 20 year old forward, the Raptors hope they could add a short blocking presence to help Andrea Bargnani. The Raps have been looking to make some big time changes in the off season and have somewhat succeeded
in it. They have already added Kyle Lowry and Landry Fields to their ranks and the presence of one of premier European centre will go a long way in strengthening the roster.
JaVale McGee agrees to re-sign with Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to re-sign JaVale McGee on a multiyear deal. The seven foot centre will be coming back to the Nuggets on a four year deal worth $44 million.
McGee was spectacular in the first round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers and George Karl for one rated him very highly. Prior to joining the Nuggets, he played 61 games for the Washington Wizards and recorded an average
of 11.3 points to go along with 7.8 rebounds and 2.16 blocks per game.
Kyrie Irving has successful surgery on right hand

Cleveland Cavaliers starting point guard and NBA’s Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving suffered a broken hand during practice a few days back. The injury came when Irving, in the heat of the moment, punched a padded wall in frustration.
However following a successful surgical procedure on his hand on Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic, he is expected to make a full recovery. The speculative recovery time has been hinted to be around two months which means that
he would be fit just in time for training camp in September.
At the moment, Cavaliers are taking part in the Las Vegas summer league and would have hoped to have Irving available to play alongside Dion Waiters in order to get fully prepared for next season.
