Jonathan Byrd eyes top position at Northern Trust Open

With the golf event of Northern Trust Open lightening up the arrival of big stars at Riviera, it is not the time to sideline the underdogs.
One such surprise came in the form of Jonathan Byrd, who is slowly progressing and reaching close to the top position.
The golfer is already 3-under par after he laboriously made way to score effectively at the 16th and 17th holes to hold the top position at the end of first day’s play at Pacific Palisades.
He was able to successfully secure his position at the top with the help of five birdies, a bogey along with other pars.
It is important to mention here that his first round performance was marked by some apparent loopholes that forced him to pay heavily.
Due to his rather aggressive approach of scoring maximum, he made a visible miscalculation of scoring the 11th hole at par 5.
During that time, he was going 3-under par, but because of his calculation error, he had to miss the stroke.
Fortunately, it did not end disastrously for him, as he was still in a position to save his best for the day.
After completing his pars for the next four holes, he saved his best for the day for the last two holes, where he was able to fire birdies.
Unfortunately, the 18th hole turned out to be a bogey for him, but did not affect his performance substantially.
Apart from Byrd, it was Korean-American golfer KJ Choi who was able to secure his position at the second place in the event. He was able to cement his place with the help of his score of 2-under par.
Famous for his consistent game, Choi maintained his high quality of shot selection and accuracy, with the help of which he was able to add his score.
It was at the ninth hole that he stumbled and scored a bogey, only to fall behind at the second place.
However, it was Adam Scott who turned out to be a disappointment in the event, as he could not score effectively.
It came as a surprise for many that he could not advance even to the ninth hole when he was just 1-under par.
