Jonathan Dasnieres De Veig rallies pass Dustin Brown to reach the main draw – Sweden Open 2011
Seeded at number eight in the qualifying draws, Jonathan Dasnieres De Veig of France, drowned the second seed German, Dustin Brown, to make it into the main draws of SkiStar Sweden Open in Monday.
The three-set thriller lasted for one hour and forty eight minutes before De Veig eventually edged past Brown to settle the final scores at 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, to clear the final qualifier round of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals)
World Tour 250 tournament.
The enthralling contest was witnessed at the clay courts of Bastad, Sweden, with the two men battling very hard for booking a berth in the main draws of the tournament. A number of momentum swings were seen in throughout the contest,
with De Veig finally coming out as the winner.
The Frenchmen was off to a ballistic start in the opening set and absolutely blew away Brown to get early hold of the matchup. Despite of a par serve accuracy of 50 per cent in the opener, De Veig clinched 8 out of 9 first serve
points and registered two serve breaks to devastate his bleak opponent. The French raced to set point in no time and then sealed the first set in the most assertive manner at 6-1 to get one up in the contest.
The following set was off to a steady start, with both opponents being cautious in the beginning and took the scores to 4-4 without any serve breaks. Tide turned when Brown nailed his first serve break of the day out of nowhere
and a sloppy double fault from De Veig at the most crucial moment of the matchup bestowed the first set point to the German at 5-4.
The second set fell to Brown’s name at 6-4 but De Veig took his revenge in the next set, breaking the German serve to lead 4-3. The French carried on to play error-free tennis and made no silly mistakes, as the German did in throughout
the final set, and went on to finish off the proceedings at 6-4, earning a place in the main draws of the Swedish Open.
