Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy qualified for the next round – Madrid Challenger 2012 CH 
Ranked 153rd in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy, prevailed over the Argentinean, Facundo Arguello, in the first round of the Madrid Challenger held in Spain. The
French contender concluded the match after a tough battle and jolted down his 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win in two hours and 16 minutes on the eve of Tuesday.
The right-hander, Veigy, confidently held his initial serve in the opening set and drew the first lead by breaking his rival’s serve in the fourth game. He continued in the set without facing any obstacle and
preserved his upper hand. Arguello struggle hard to upset his rival but he was unable to strike the lead and barely managed to go beyond two points. The French professional successfully broke Arguello’s serve in the last game and clinched a 6-2 lead.
The French senior had a reasonable initial serve accuracy of 70 percent, converting 13 of 21 first and seven of nine second delivery points. The Argentinean professional preserved 59 percent first serve precision,
pocketing away 11 of 17 first but only four of 12 second serve points.
The winning order reversed in the second set and the 20-year-old Arguello started to gain momentum. Both players preserved their initial serves and gave each other a tough competition. The score line levelled
down three times as they both desperately wanted to bag away the win. The Argentinean competitor busted his rival’s serve in the 11th game and nudged forward to grab the last two games, concluding the set with a 7-5 score.
The world number 200, Arguello, manifested 54 percent initial serve accuracy, bagging away 17 of 19 first and 10 of 16 second delivery points. On the other hand, Veigy had 62 percent initial serve precision with
13 of 18 first and seven of 11 second deliver points.
The 25-year-old Frenchman held his initial serve in the decider and battled hard to regain his former position. The right-handed Argentinean squared down the scores to 2-all in the fourth game but was unable
to dominate his rival. Towards the end, Veigy dissolved his opponent’s serve in the sixth and eighth game respectively. Eventually, French senior concluded the set with a 6-3 win.  
In the second round, the Frenchman will battle against the local challenger Sergio Gutierrez Ferrol.
