Jonathan Davies believes that Gareth Thomas’ code switch too late - Rugby

While talking to reporters on Wednesday, October 26, Jonathan Davies, shared his views on the untimely retirement of Wales’ Gareth Thomas, from both codes of rugby and said that the player was too late in his decision of switching code from union to league.
Thomas had opted to a quit from rugby union in 2009, to join in with the Super League Clectic Crusaders. In total he has 31 appearances to his credit, over the short period of two years at League. Davies himself had opted for the alternate code but only
a little earlier, when he was only 26 years old.
According to Davis the switch for the player was too late and he further said, "You need a little bit of time on your side to pick the game up and you need to go there at the peak of your powers. Maybe Gareth had gone a little bit past that and the transition
was very difficult. It was made harder by not going to one of the strongest Super League clubs. I think he did find it a little bit harder than maybe he thought."
He further went on and added about that the prop is one of those players who have achieved what they were aiming for. Davies also labelled the Welsh prop’s career as very eventful, with the a praiseworthy time with Lions, Wales and the honour of  leading
his side to the European Cup victory with Toulouse and then in later years the prop was also exposed to his last unfulfilled dream, of playing for the alternate code of rugby.
Thomas has the distinguished honour of being the first Welsh to ever have achieved the 100 caps mark. On that praiseworthy accomplishment, Davies acknowledged that this was only possible because of an undying passion for the game.
Thomas himself had clarified that his leaving rugby does not mean that his passion for the game has eroded. According to the player, the resignation was necessary because he felt that he will no longer be able to give is 100% to the game.
