Erlich/ Ram blow away Garcia-Lopez/ Montanes in the quarter-final of the Serbia Open Doubles
Second seeded duo of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram of Israel outclassed the Spanish pair of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Albert Montanes in the quarter-final clash in the doubles category of the Serbia Open, being played at the Tennis
Center Novak complex at Belgrade, Serbia on Thursday. The Israeli team wrapped up straight sets victory 6-2, 6-0 in merely forty two minutes of play to make it to the semi-final of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 250 event.
An amazing game of doubles tennis was witnessed at Belgrade, with the Israeli pair dominating the contest from the very first moment. Erlich and Ram proved absolutely devastating in the competition and dropped two games to wind
up the straight sets in their favour. Their coordination was phenomenal and their points winning proficiency was exemplary. Erlich and Ram crafted seven opportunities to break the Spanish opponents and successfully cashed in five of them to come out as the
winner.
The Spanish duo appeared in all sorts of confusion right from the beginning of the match and committed plenty of errors to end on the losing side. A clear lack of communication was witnessed among Garcia-Lopez and Montanes, letting
their opponents take the better of them. The Spaniards had two opportunities to break the serve but they squandered the both chances to remain at a disadvantage.
Erlich and Ram had a blistering start to the contest, winning 12 of 14 points on their 70 per cent precise first serve in the opener. The Israeli pair was equally good with their return game and outclassed their Spanish opponents
in every segment of the game. Garcia-Lopez and Montanes had a sloppy beginning to the opening set, serving with a below par accuracy of 48 per cent and conceding three double faults. They held serve in just two games while the second seeded duo stung two break
points to close the first set at 6-2.
Garcia-Lopez and Montanes amazingly uplifted their first serve accuracy to 88 per cent in the following set but failed to hold serve in any of the games. Erlich and Ram continued their demolition job and broke their opponents three
times consecutively to rocket away to victory at 6-0. They remained unbroken in the entire matchup and will be featuring in the semi-final of the Serbia Open on Saturday. Their semi-final opponents will be Frantisek Cermak of Czech Republic and Filip Polasek
of Slovakia.
