Jonathan Forsberg and Albin Hjelm grab Men’s Doubles crown at Uppsala Junior International 2012
Sweden’s Jonathan Forsberg and Albin Hjelm grabbed Men’s Doubles crown by beating their compatriots Linus Conrad and Toni Holm Loven in the final contest of Uppsala Junior International 2012 on Sunday, March 25, at Uppsala, Sweden.
Jonathan and Albin, who were top seeds in Men’s Doubles draw, had to work extra hard in the final match to get rid of their un-seeded opponents and managed to win the contest in three games.
On the other hand, Linus and Toni showed their aggressive skills against their higher ranked challengers and won the opening set.
However, they could not continue their winning run in the following games and lost the battle in rubber games.
The opening game was interesting when the lower ranked Linus and Toni played remarkable badminton against their experienced team-mates and remained in commanding position.
On the other hand, Jonathan and Albin failed to find a good rhythm in the first set and remained behind on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the top seeds tried their level best to reduce the deficit but failed to put up strong resistance as their opponents were in complete control of rallies.
Jonathan and Albin could not stop the aggressive run of their rival and lost the first game with a decent margin of 17-21.
In the second set, Jonathan and Albin showed their brilliance as they took over the control of rallies and managed to remain slightly ahead of their challengers on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the top seeds continued their elevated play in the game and remained successful in winning the second game with a four-point margin of 21-17.
In the deciding game, Jonathan and Albin were everywhere in the court and they did not spare any chance for their lower ranked opponents to get a dominating position in the game and took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, the top seeds remained on track and did not lose their focus at any stage in the concluding phase. They won the second set with an impressive margin of 21-10.
Jonathan and Albin finished the title match in 44 minutes with a 17-21, 21-17 and 21-10 score on the board.
