Jonathan Lier wins Men’s 200m butterfly crown in Athens: Day one – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Day one of the USA Swimming Sectionals saw the stunning performance of the MPSC’s Jonathan Lier in Athens, Georgia, United States, on Thursday, July 14. The final session of the meet conducted the Men’s 200m butterfly race.
Lier earned the stunning victory in the 200m butterfly A final, whereas, ABSC’s Mark Dylla earned first place honours in the B final of the corresponding race. NCAC’s David William captured the Men’s 200m butterfly C final, while Hilton Head Aqua’s Charles
Bolga topped the D final of the corresponding meet.
The Men’s 200m butterfly A final was nabbed by Jonathan Lier with a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 01.81 seconds, whereas, Jimmy Yoder of Rays wound up second in 2 minutes and 01.89 seconds. Steven Kekacs of ASL settled third in a time of 2 minutes and
03.02 seconds.
Meanwhile, Mark Dylla secured a stunning victory in the Men’s 200m butterfly B final with a winning time of 2 minutes and 02.32 seconds. Will Freeman earned second place in 2 minutes and 04.52 seconds, while Maclin Simpso of LAK finished third in a time
of 2 minutes and 05.55 seconds. Robert Leasur was placed fourth in 2 minutes and 06.36 seconds, whereas, Dylan Kase settled fifth in 2 minutes and 06.86 seconds.
In the Men’s 200m butterfly C final, David William earned first place honours with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 08.12 seconds. Jeremy Gregor of SwisMAC wound up second in 2 minutes and 08.37 seconds, while WA’s Nick Wrightso settled third in a time of
2 minutes and 08.40 seconds. Bailey Burt earned fourth spot in 2 minutes and 08.86 seconds, whereas, Michael Kenny finished fifth in 2 minutes and 09.10 seconds.
The Men’s 200m butterfly D final was clinched by Charles Bolga with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 07.55 seconds, whereas, Carter Turpin of SwimMAC wound up second in 2 minutes and 08.70 seconds. His team-mate, Sean Corcoran settled third on the podium
in a time of 2 minutes and 09.79 seconds.
