Jonathan Lobert aiming for a higher finish in 2012 London Olympic Games
Start of the Finn class races was ideal for the Danish sailor, Jonas Hogh-Christensen as he was able to claim two bullets on the first day of the regatta. At the end of third day proceedings, he was leading the fleet standings with seven points.
Closing in on second podium is Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie who grabbed two second finishes on the opening day but tumbled down later in the proceedings. However, despite his low finishes on second and third day, he still managed to hit the second spot with
17 points.
France’s Jonathan Lobert is currently placed on third podium place after compiling 23 points. The start of the regatta was not good for him because he finished on ninth and fourth position at the end of Day 1 which pushed him down in the standings.
However, he bounced back into the competition with another fourth finish along with a second finish. The third day of the regatta was not good for him once again because he failed to perform according to the standards and grabbed a sixth and a seventh position
to place himself on the third podium. The races will be tough ahead but Lobert is hopeful for a good finish.
He spoke to the media, “I am pretty happy so far. Third overall after three days means I am still in the game. We still have four races to go and so I will take it day by day, race by race like I have done since the beginning. And I always try my hardest
to catch up the most boats I can when I am behind.”
It will be interesting to see how far Lobert can manage to compete as he will be battling it out with some top sailors from around the world.
