Jonathan Lobert looking to improve his position in 2012 London Olympic Games – Sailing Update
At the end of the third day of 2012 London Olympic Games sailing in Finn class, Jonas Hogh-Christensen was able to extend his lead of the fleet with seven points. With a 10-point difference, Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie is placed on the second podium place
with 17 points. France’s Jonathan Lobert is on third place with 23 points and is aiming to stay in the Top 3.
Lobert had a slow start of the regatta with a ninth finish in the first race of the day which put him under immense pressure. However, a fourth finish in the second race was enough to secure a higher podium for him. Lobert was aware of the challenges he
will be facing in the later days of the event.
The second day of the regatta was comparatively better for him as he claimed a fourth and second position which brought him in the top three podium places.
The French sailor was expecting the same performance on the third day proceedings but failed to finish on a higher position and claimed a sixth and seventh finish compiling 23 points. He is hoping for a positive run ahead and wants to improve his standing
position.
While speaking to the local media, Lobert said, “I want to improve my first upwind. If I can be top six round the first mark I have good chance to win the race, like I almost did yesterday. I maybe have to take more risks on the start line. In the first
race today the Greek was just above me and he was OCS.”
