Jonathan Moore makes a good comeback after a poor start at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters
Jonathan Moore carded a five-under par 67 on Wednesday, to take the sole second place at the Asian Tour’s Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters.
The reigning Asian Development Tour Order of Merit winner started off poorly on the back nine of the course. He signed two straight bogeys on the first two holes that he played.
Yet, he managed to bounce back strongly by birdying each of the next three holes. Another two birdies to end the back nine allowed him to post a 33 in the end.
The front nine also witnessed him play some good shots and he signed three birdies against a lone bogey, to settle one stroke behind the leader Thaworn Wiratchant.
“It is always good to be close to Thaworn Wiratchant,” he said. “When you are near him, you know you are doing good. I was thankful to shoot my score. I bogeyed my first two holes and I said to Claire, bad start, good finish”.
Overall, it was a great display of the game by the American, especially after getting off to a poor start in the morning. While talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he told that he was a little confused on how to start his round.
He completely miscalculated his tee shots and went way out of the fairways. After recording bogeys, he had a discussion with his wife and decided to change his game plan.
He focused on playing his natural game and tried not to hit the ball very hard. As a result, he started creating birdie chances and availed some of them in the end.
“I was a little frustrated. It wasn’t how you start,” he added. “But we were talking on the 12th hole and that’s when I told her “bad start, good finish” and she said ‘we have another 70 holes to go. I’m not scared are you?’ That kind off helped and we went
on from there to get the birdies”.
Wiratchant, in the meantime, fired five birdies and an eagle against a lone bogey, to lead the field, entering the second round, at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club.
