Jonathan Neale says McLaren look forward to resolve their reliability issues – Formula 1 news
McLaren managing director, Jonathan Neale has said that their main focus is to find out the reliability issues which they have faced in the season so far and to
resolve them as soon as possible to score good points in the forthcoming races.
Neale avoided making any kind of predictions about their updates which they plan to introduce in the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. However, he asserted that
they are earnestly looking forward to find the right solution for their reliability problems.
“In terms of looking forwards, I believe that it is really important we sort out the issues with the car and the correlation,” he told the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
phone-in. “All of the time that you have got that lingering doubt as to what went wrong where and how we fix it, you have the opportunity for it to arise again.”
“So you can never just pull out the one missing part and put in a new one, that's not the way these things work. We'll see ourselves gradually pull ourselves back
from this one,” he added.
Besides, he said that it is quite difficult to discover the root causes of the technical issues. Nonetheless, he stated that they are working very hard to come
up stronger with a competitive car in the season ahead to compete well with their rivals in order to make their mark stronger in this year’s championship.
In addition, he said that they are quite happy with their results in the Bahrain GP as their driver, Sergio Perez managed to secure 6th place finish.
He also said that they are expecting a strong battle in the approaching race as all the contenders have planned to introduce some essential updates in their cars.
Moreover, he expressed that their aim is to collect as much data as they can in the Friday practice at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona so as to evaluate their
updates ahead of the race to make the necessary changes in the car to attain better results.
Currently, the Woking based squad are standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship with 23 points, ahead of Toro Rosso and behind Force India.
Let’s see how they show up in this weekend’s race.
