Jonathan Rea makes MotoGP debut at Italian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Jonathan Rea will be starting his first ever MotoGP race at the Italian Grand Prix held at the Misano Circuit.
He will be racing from Repsol Honda replacing Casey Stoner due to his ankle injury.
Rea expressed his pleasure by saying that it was his dream to race in MotoGP.
He said, “For me its a big dream come true just to race in MotoGP.”
Furthermore, he wished Stoner for his health and said that it is very unfortunate for Stoner that he had to face such an injury.
“It's been very unfortunate for Casey to sustain such an injury when he was having a very strong season and my best wishes go to him while he recovers. Now, my job is to replace him and I will try to do the best I can,” he added.
He added that he will try his best to give impressive performance at the Italian circuit. Besides, he said that he takes this opportunity as a gift from Honda and it has felt great to spend time with the team. He added that it will take some time to get
used to the bike.
“In the few days I've spent with the team I have felt very good, they understand it will take me some time to push with this bike but I'm learning every time I get on it,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that he felt great while testing and preparing himself for the upcoming Italian event. He added that he better understands the bike now. In addition, he told that they have the riding position set, the base setup is set and he understands
the bike more than before.
Rea completed an extensive practice session at Aragon and Brno and tried to get more familiar with Honda. He holds an impressive record in the World Superbike championship. Before replacing Stoner he used to ride for Castrol Honda.
It is expected that Casey Stoner will be coming back to race at the Australian Grand Prix scheduled at Phillip Island.
Let’s see, will the new rider be able to meet the expectations of Honda or will Honda miss Stoner as his fans do.
