Jonathan Roberts captures Men’s 500 yard freestyle gold – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Jonathan Roberts of North Texas Nada captured gold medal of the Men’s 500 yard freestyle on opening day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Thursday, December 6.
The 17-year-old Roberts demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the distant freestyle event as he overpowered the fastest qualifying swimmer in the playoff.
With his gruelling efforts, he remained comfortably ahead of his competitors and cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 21.33 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Brock Turner of Dayton Raiders-O, who was 1.40 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 22.73 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by James Yoder of Stingrays-GA, who was half a body length slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for bronze medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 23.12 seconds.
Yoder was chased by Logan Samuelson of Swim Florida-FL, who was 0.23 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth position by posting a time of 4 minutes and 23.35 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Ryan Kao of La Mirada Armada, who was marginally behind and transpired on the finishing end as fifth best finisher by posting a time of 4 minutes and 23.45 seconds.
Kao was chased by Joshua Beals of Crimson Aquatics, who was almost 1.60 seconds slower from him and reached the wall for sixth position with the timing of 4 minutes and 25.11 seconds.
Beals was trailed by Liam Egan of Crimson Aquatics, who was 1.45 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall for seventh place with an effort of 4 minutes and 26.56 seconds,
Eighth spot of the race was secured by Liam Egan of Crimson Aquatics, who was 1.45 seconds behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 27.73 seconds.
Furthermore, Roberts received a huge round of applause from the audience for his notable efforts after the event.
