Jonathan Sanchez dominates as San Francisco Giants defeat Los Angeles Angels 4-0 – MLB Update
Jonathan Sanchez put in a brilliant pitching performance as the San Francisco Giants defeated Los Angeles Angels 4-0 in their Cactus League game at Scottsdale Stadium in Arizona on Thursday, March 17.
Sanchez showed why he was slotted in the starting position as he crushed the Angels in his six devastating innings. Sanchez, making fourth start of spring permitted only one scoreless hit continuing his previous 2.08 ERA and added five more strike-outs to
his spring record that moved him to 14 most among all MLB pitchers this spring.
Giants are moving positively towards the regular season as they have won 10 of their last 11 games posting most win record among all Major League clubs with 17 and have best winning percentage in the Majors with .762 marks. Yesterday, the Giants earned a
5-3 victory over Chicago White Sox and will make their next contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Giants snatched their runs in the fourth inning when Pablo Sandoval hammered a double followed by Miguel Tejada’s single to Pablo and Pat Burrell made the second double for San Francisco. Pablo also made a fourth run for the Giants when he added an RBI
in the eighth inning. Third baseman Pablo increased his spring form as he was already tied for team-lead in homers with David Huff.
The lead proved too huge a burden on the Angels, as they could not earn a single in all nine innings. Angel’s right-hand pitcher Dan Haren could not prove his form allowing three runs on four hits in five innings. He also had three strike-outs, but not valuable
in these circumstances. Haren has 0-3 record with 4.80 ERA in this spring.
The Giants will host NL rivals Los Angeles Dodgers Friday at Scottsdale Stadium. The club seems to acquire pitching momentum before the regular season as they have assembled struggling pitcher Rubby De La Rosa to compete against the Dodgers’ Jeff Suppan
who has 1-1 record with 6.30 ERA in spring. Giants have also achieved some off-field popularity announcing assistance program for Catastrophe stricken Japanese people.
