Jonathan Thomas extends his contract with Ospreys – Rugby News
Welsh international rugby union player, Jonathan Thomas, has turned down the offer from French Top 14 club Perpignan and decided to stick with his current club, Ospreys. The anouncment came on July 6th in a press conference.
Thomas has extended his contract with the Ospreys until 2014 as he decided not to join his Welsh team-mate James Hook at Perpignan.
Thomas is currently playing for Magners League 2010 champions, Ospreys, who will be playing their crunch game of the season on the Friday, May 6th, to reach the final four of the Magners League this season. Apart from Munster, no other team has
confirmed their spot in the play-offs of the Magners League 2010/11.
Ospreys hit a poor run of form in the later phase of the league and now find themselves in a situation in which not even a bonus point victory can guarantee them a place in the play-offs as their place in the semi-finals is related to the performances of
other teams.
Jonathan Thomas joined the Ospreys during the 2003 season. Until now, he has made 87 appearances for the club and has scored 20 points for them. He has progressed through the Welsh developmental program as he has represented Wales at Under 16, Under 19 and
Under 21 Level. His exceptional performances have helped him earn a call to the Welsh national rugby team.
Thomas made his debut for the Welsh in 2003 against Australia. Since then he has developed his rapport for his ball carrying skills. He mostly plays as flanker and occasionally has played at lock and number eight positions for both Welsh national rugby team
and Ospreys.
Thomas has made 66 international appearances including 2011 RBS Six Nations tournament. In his 66 appearances for the Welsh national rugby team, he has scored 35 points.
