Jonathan Tiernan-Locke bagged an overall victory at the Tour of Britain 2012
Jonathan Tiernan-Locke of Team Endura Racing is having a terrific season and the cyclist make full use of his heroic and proved his skills at the Tour of Britain 2012.
He bagged an overall victory at the eight-day race and became the first British cyclist to receive the honour.
“We wanted to ride for a bunch sprint and there was one dangerous moment on the steep climb and I had to go with the move,” he noted after crossing the finish-line.
“When you're expecting an easier day and for something like that to go it was a bit stressful. For Cav to win added some value to the stage".
"I didn't try and go away, I just followed a move”.
“NetApp did a full-on lead out with all the guys peeling off until it was just one rider who attacked and I didn't want to give him any freedom”.
The 27-year-old also bagged overall victories at the Tour of Alsace, Tour Mediterraneen, Tour du Haut Var 2012 including stage victories at all the mentioned events.
Nathan Haas of Team Garmin-Sharp also rode brilliantly during the Tour of Britain but could not match the likes of his British opponent.
He finished 18 seconds behind and had to settle for the second overall spot after the final general classifications.
The third podium spot belonged to Team Liquigas-Cannondale cyclist, Damiano Caruso who fell further five second behind Haas.
Boy Van Poppel of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling wins the points classifications with a total number of 76 UCI points to his credit.
Mark Cavendish of Team Sky Procycling finished second with 59 points while Nathan Haas of Team Garmin-Sharp claimed the third position with 56 UCI points.
