Jonathan Trott aiming to develop into an all-rounder
The hero of the fourth one-day international (ODI) against Australia for England, Jonathan Trott has expressed his desire to become an all-rounder, and help his team win matches in all forms of the game.
The 29-year-old player was exceptional in the Adelaide match and scored a brilliant century to help his team reach a good total batting first. Apart from his century, Trott also took two crucial wickets in the match to lead his team to a 21-run victory.
Trott said that he had a chat with England’s bowling coach David Saker about his bowling, and would train hard for being more than useful in this department. He said that he will be following in Paul Collingwood’s foot-steps.
England played the last match under a lot of pressure as the team was 3-0 down in the seven-match series, and a loss in Adelaide would have cost them the series. The way Trott handled the pressure was praised by stand-in Australian captain Michael Clarke.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 said, “I think the earlier he gets in probably the better for him and the more it suits his game and allows him to play freely. He's in pretty good nick and he batted really well. I thought he held the innings together really well, the other guys
had the opportunity to play around him.”
Trott praised the innings of Matt Prior, who scored a quick 67 off 58 balls. Trott said that Prior made it easy for him to play comfortably and reach his second ton in ODI cricket.
Prior was brought into the English team ahead of Steve Davies. The veteran wicket-keeper was not considered for the national team in the limited formats of the game and wasn’t expected to be picked-up for the World Cup.
However, Prior’s inclusion in the 15-member squad for the World Cup stunned everyone. The veteran wicket-keeper was also drafted into the ODI squad for the ongoing series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
His comeback to the ODI team wasn’t promising. He scored two ducks in the first two matches he played and was under intense pressure. Prior used all his experience and played his natural game in the Adelaide match to guide his team to victory.
England will be hoping that Trott can carry his form in the remaining series and in the World Cup as well to help his team lift the World Cup trophy for the first time in their history.
