Lady luck seems to be smiling over England cricket as two English players, Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott grabbed the top honours in International Cricket Council's (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House Hotel, London,
on Monday, September 12, 2011.

Trott, on the other hand, was selected as ICC's cricketer of the year and was awarded with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. The five-member selection panel headed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clive-Hubert-Lloyd-c51327 choose Trott ahead of South African opener Hashim
Amla and India’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556.
Trott was over the moon after securing the award. The right-handed batsman also revealed his best moment of Ashes series.
“I never envisaged winning this award and it's a brilliant feeling to be recognised. That run-out in the first over of the game - it was the first time I've ever got to run around a cricket field like a football striker scoring
a goal. That was the best highlight for me - although I have to say as a team Melbourne was special,” shared Trott.
Cook also expressed his thoughts after being bestowed with the honour. When asked about his most memorable moment, Cook said, “It would have to be Sydney, when Chris Tremlett took that final wicket. This award is for the England
team as much as me. I was quite lucky I was in a bit of form, and we cashed in a bit. But our bowlers were the key to the Ashes.”

evaluated players' performances during the period from August 11, 2010 to August 3, 2011.
Cook, during this performance period, has scored 1302 runs, which include the 766 runs scored during the Ashes tour. The left-hander maintained an impressive average of 76.58 from the 12 Test matches he played.
Trott is not far behind with his performance, the defensive middle-order batsman scaled 1042 runs at 65.12 runs per innings in Tests while in ODIs the batsman has amassed 1064 runs at 48.36.
