http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576 extends his contract with Warwickshire by three years – Cricket News Update
English County side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862, has successfully persuaded Jonathan Trott to stay at Edgbaston. Trott, who has been England’s star batsman in last year or so, has extended his contract by three years.
The right-hander became a part of Warwickshire after he moved from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 to pursue his cricketing career in England. Trott has not changed his allegiance since making his debut against Sussex in 2003.
Warwickshire finished second in the English County Championship Division One 2011, after scaling 235 points from 16 games. Only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 (246) secured more points than them from the same number of matches.
The English County side hasn’t won the County Division Championship since 2004 and Trott is confident that their next season would draw a few trophies, as they have all the ingredients required to become a champion side.
Giving an interview to the club’s website, the International Cricket Council’s player of the year said, “It's been fantastic to be part of the Warwickshire team for the last 10 years. We've got an exciting young squad that's capable
of challenging for trophies, an experienced and innovative coaching team, and some of the best facilities in world cricket. I'm looking forward to many more years here at Edgbaston.”
The 30-year-old Trott arrived late at international level but the cricketer made up for it by performing exceptionally well. The right-handed batsman played his first match against England’s arch enemy, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, in 2009 at the
Oval and since then has been a regular member of the English roster. So far Trott has featured in 23 Test matches and has gashed runs 1965 at an average 57.79.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Fraser-Giles-c46314, Warwickshire's director of cricket, was delighted that the batsman has decided to stay with the club, and said, “Jonathan has made a massive impact at Warwickshire since joining the club. He's popular with everyone
and we're all delighted that's he's gone on to achieve so much with England over the last few years.”
Warwickshire has developed a great squad; batting is their strong hold as three of their batters are in ICC's Top 10 batsmen list for Test cricket. Apart from Trott (8), the other two batsmen include fellow countryman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597
at the 4th spot and overseas player from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 who is ranked 5th.
