Jonathan Trott profile – ICC World Cup 2011
Jonathan Trott a middle order English batsman is famous for his legendary knocks, a splendid debut century in the Ashes Test at Oval two years ago and this year a brilliant 168 runs in Melbourne and 135 not out in Brisbane. These innings, demonstrate his potency in the English team. Trott’s third hundred in the five Ashes Tests has increased his average to 100.83 against Australia, playing a vital part in England’s historic success after 24 years on Australian soil.
Ian Jonathan Leonard Trott a technically correct right-handed batsman of the England cricket team was born on 22 April, 1981 in Cape Town, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753.
He plays domestically for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 and has also has played for South Africa in under-15 and under 19 World cup but was not deemed as an overseas player because of having the British Passport.
Only a few years ago he smashed 245 runs on debut for Warwickshire’s Second XI in 2002 a knock which was nothing less than exceptional. In the same year he took his maiden first-class five wicket haul taking 7 for 39.
In 2005 he was one of the two Warwickshire batsmen to score 1000 first-class runs with the highest score of 210. In 2006, he again was the top scorer crossing the 1000 run mark and was rewarded with his selection into the England ODI squad in 2007. He could not capitalize on the opportunity and therefore was dropped. However, after 18 month he was called up again for the fifth Ashes Test against arch-rivals, Australia and celebrated his maiden century.
Trott with his nick name of Booger has played 18 Tests scoring 1600 runs with an average of 61.53. He made his debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in 2009 at Oval in which he scored a splendid hundred. In 18 Tests he has 5 hundreds and 5 fifties in his career.
In One Day International matches Booger opened his account against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in 2009. He has played 18 ODIs scoring 858 runs with an average of 53.62. He has 3 hundred and 6 fifties in his one-day career. His highest score in ODI’s is 137.
He started his Twenty20 International career in 2007 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. In T20 international he has played 7 matches scoring 138 with an average of 23.00 with only one debut fifty in the shorter format of the game.
In first-class cricket, Trott has featured in 161 matches scoring 10748 runs with an average of 45.73. He has 25 centuries and 52 half-centuries to his credit.
He holds the record for being the 18th English cricketer to make a century in his Test debut (5th Ashes Test, 2009). He was also responsible for the record breaking 8th wicket partnership of 332 runs with Stuart Broad against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Trott’s credentials however do not do justice to the amount of potential this cricketer holds. He is being deemed as a major player of England during the latest edition of the ICC World Cup. In the first warm-up match he scored 57 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 and in the second warm-up match, he was bowled out on 9 runs.
His invaluable performances in the Ashes and in the ODI’s for England makes him a key player for the Poms in the middle order. His form and performances will be crucial for his team if they want to have a chance at making it to the quarter final stage of the World Cup.
