Jonathan Trott sails as England cricket soars (part 1)
Over the years Jonathan Trott has turned out to be a batsman of extraordinary temperament with a different but productive technique.
He looks calm and composed at the crease but the batsmen he stands close to while fielding would define him as somewhat cocky.
Jonathan Trott has come out to be nothing but a brick-wall in the English batting line-up in the year 2010. The no.3 batsman for England has cemented his place as a star top-order batsman courtesy a number of memorable, notable, record-breaking, and crucial
innings for his team in the last couple of months or so.
Trott did not only reserved a spot in the side for himself but solved one of the biggest problems for England in Test cricket bearing in mind the fact that they have experimented with 70 different batsmen for the no.3 slot in the last four decades, which
takes the number to almost seven batsmen per match.
Moreover, the averages of the batsmen combined were less than any of the competing sides keeping Bangladesh and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750)
have used far lesser number of batsmen for the same position indicating that they have succeeded where England have failed.
Trott now averages an impressive 61.53 in Test cricket for England while the highest for any batsman batting at no.3 in the last 40 years is 60.46 (Brian Lara).
Apart from England, Trott also offers his services for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 County and is an important member for the team. He, in fact, was the record-breaking debutant for Warwickshire when he made a brilliant 245 for his side in his first venture for the County
and since then he hasn’t looked back.
He followed up with another sensational innings on his county championship debut scoring 134 runs and proved his mettle with the ball too in the same season with match winning figures of 7 for 39.
He also went on to score the highest number of runs in a Warwickshire county season making a prolific 1,161 first-class runs to ensure a spot behind Nick http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599.
His 8,121 first class runs and a more than productive performance for the County in 2009 made way for his inclusion in the Test squad against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the fourth Test of Ashes 2009\10.
Although, he didn't play in the fourth Test he got his break in the next and he made the selectors, the fans and his side proud, rising up to his reputation of scoring centuries on debut.
Trott went on to make 119 in the second innings following his promising 44 in the first to ensure a much-needed victory for his team to win the Ashes.
He made not one but two records becoming the 18th English batsman to score a century on debut- after a long-awaited 17 years when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-c60529 Thorpe made his country proud-and also hitting the highest number of runs on debut for a Warwickshire player.
Like other successful players Trott was also faced with a controversy very early in his career. On Trott’s first tour outside of England, Michael Vaughan- the former captain for England- claimed in his biography that he saw “Trotty” celebrating South Africa’s
victory with Paul Harris.
Being a South African by origin it was a testing time for Trott but the captain stood by him as he rejected the claims of Vaughan. Trott responded to that with a match-winning partnership along with Collingwood enabling the visitors to win the Test and square
the series, thereby removing any doubts about his loyalty.
The series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in England helped Trott reach a number of milestones. In the home series, Trott scored his first double century in international cricket, marking his highest score in Test cricket of 226 runs.
The success was not only limited to the five-day format, he went on to make 94 in the second ODI of the One Day series and a hundred in the third to ensure a definite victory for his team in the match and in the series after being humiliated in the second
match.
