Jonathan Vaughters showing full trust in Michel Kreder’s Classic abilities
Michel Kreder had a terrific start to his 2012 campaign at the Tour Mediterraneen. The cyclist is now looking to take his performance to the next level at the Spring Classics.
He won the second and the third stage of the French race and also claimed the young rider classifications.
Kreder finished the Tour Mediterraneen with a deficit of 27 seconds behind Team Endura Racing cyclist Jonathan Tiernan-Locke to claim the second overall position at the race.
Michel is full of confidence as he moves towards the Spring Classics. His Team Manager, Jonathan Vaughters is also positive that the cyclist will help the team in the season ahead.
Vaughters signed Michel from the Rabobank Continental Team and put his faith in the cyclist for the third consecutive season.
He told Cyclingnews, “His performances have been in line with the type of rider he his. He had a pretty incredible year as a neo-pro and then last year he wasn’t so good”.
Vaughters further added, “He came off a tough Vuelta and then instead of resting he did lots of Six Days in the winter. He basically started last year half cooked and he never really got going again”.
The Dutch rider started his cycling career with Amateur side, Team Unibet-Davo back in 2006 and stayed with the team for a period of two years.
He represented Rabobank Continental Team from 2008 to 2009 and continued the initial level of cycling before finally joining the professional side, Team Garmin-Transitions in 2010.
The Dutch cyclist claimed the 7th overall position at the Volta a Catalunya 2010, along with a third place finish at the GP Miguel Indurain during his first year as a pro.
He claimed the second stage at the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe 2011, finished 10th at the Coppa Agostoni and 6th at the Coppa Bernocchi 2011.
Amstel Gold race is organised in the Limburg, Netherlands since 1989 and the 2012 edition of the race is scheduled on April 15th. It is considered as one of the most important cycling races of the Dutch region.
Vaughters has a strong conviction that Kreder can be a terrific classics rider and believes that he can help the Dutch team during the Ardennes Classics.
