Jones-Buchanan says that he is not nervous about playing at Wembley again
While talking to the media on Friday, November 4, Jamie Jones-Buchanan of England shared that he is all set to go back to Wembley and take on the series’ favourites, Australia, in Saturday’s double-header match of Gillette Four Nations.
While referring to the consecutive Challenge Cup defeats at Wembley, the player stressed that he is not afraid to play on the venue where he had two face two defeats and feels no intimidation by the Kangaroos.
The 30-year-old is pumped to make the most of this opportunity. He shared that the clash is very important for him because by participating in Saturday’s showdown, he will actually realise a dream since the beginning of his league career.
One of two milestones that Jones had set for himself, included playing against Australia, whereas the second one is to win a Challenge Cup, which he has never won so far.
Expressing his thoughts about playing at Wembley, which may bring back bad memories, Jones said, "I've had a couple of bad results but every experience shapes how you are as a person and it makes me a little bit stronger going into this game. It's a great
privilege and honour to be going back to Wembley. People are perceiving us as the underdogs but I've had that all season. People doubted us but we flipped that round and turned it into a positive with Leeds. We're third favourites in this tournament but I
believe we can do it."
The player stated that his side has players like Tom Briscoe and Kirk Yeamen, who are well- known assets of England. Therefore, anything can be expected from the Saturday’s clash. All they need to do is to go out there and give their best against Roos.
The English side whose winning chances may be very bleak, still have faith in skyrocketing ahead of the Aussies. If they continue to keep their hopes high and do not get overshadowed by the Australia’s on-field presence, there is a possibility for England
to retain their spot within the remainder of the series.
