Jones Rafli Jansen, Indra Viki Okvana power their way to main round – French Open Update
Men’s Doubles experts Jones Rafli Jansen and Indra Viki Okvana continued their unbeatable run and reserved a spot in the main round of Yonex French Badminton Open on October 23, 2012.
They cast out Andreas Heinz-Max Schwenger of Germany by registering a favourable result of 21-14 and 21-12 in their final encounter of the qualifying round.
This 20-minute match was played at the local badminton complex of Paris and a decent number of spectators assembled to encourage both teams.
The twosome of Jones Rafli and Indra Viki made this a one-sided affair by ruling the court in both games.
On the other hand, the German duo looked completely confused throughout this battle as they could not pocket even a single match point and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.
In the opening game, Andreas Heinz and Max Schwenger showed some spark in the beginning as they remained close to their competitors until 8-8.
However, they could not go with the same flow and allowed Jones Rafli-Indra Viki to establish a decent lead before the interval.
Jones and Indra, who belong to Germany and Indonesia respectively, made swift progress and got into a commanding position with 11-8 margin.
They maintained this momentum even after the one-minute break and widened the gap by putting up a 17-9 total.
This deficit proved a severe blow for Andreas and Max as they could not come out of their opponents influence until the concluding figure of 14-21.
Next game was just a replay of previous one as the suppressed duo of the first set could not rise from the dust all the way to the final stage.
The German pair made some back-to-back mistakes which ultimately led them to an early exit from this Super Series.
Though, Jones and Indra were a bit sluggish in the beginning but they geared up themselves after 5-5 and made a significant difference with a mountainous figure of 11-6.
After the one-minute break, they mounted pressure with 15-8 and then made best out of this psychological edge to pile up a winning score of 21-12.
Now the real challenge awaits them in the main round as they will be facing top ranked teams of the tournament.
